Collage is an integral part of my design process. Depending on how I want to control special elements I decide if I want to use encaustic wax, add additional materials or use an acrylic or cold wax finish

Encaustic wax is made of beeswax and damar resin that can be a clear medium or have pigments added as coloring agents. The word encaustic comes from the Greek word "ëncaustikos" which means "to burn in". This ancient art medium dates back to the Greeks and the Romans, but has had a resurgence of popularity..

Layers of wax are fused together with heat. Materials can be coated or embedded with the wax. It can be used for sculpture, painting and other mixed media applications.
